Life Is Like A Wheel
Life is like a wheel - not an original observation I know but this is my take on it. This song is very folksy and very different to the preceding tracks and might surprise a few people when they hear it for the first time (Steeleye Span could cover it, ho! diddily ho!). We used a 12-string guitar and a mandolin (Dave's suggestion) on it. There are no drums (sorry Jake) - though we did use them to keep the tempo. Charlie hadn't played a mandolin before, but none of the rest of us could play it so he had to, a case of learning on the job I guess. Wendelynne sings very well on this one, so we gave her performance more prominence in the mix. I was looking to write a short one-minute song, (just for novelty, a bit like some early Wire and Ramones songs) - at one stage I thought this would be it, but it sort of developed and it ended up a four-minute song, so I'll keep looking for that one-minute song, I know its around here somewhere. I thought the intro sounded like a wheel going round so we used it for the ending as well - subtle eh?
Hitchcock Moments: Just a couple of 'do, do's in the middle.
